INTRINSICALLY SAFE ETHERNET MODULES

Intrinsically Safe Ethernet ModuleEthernet LAN interfaces are equipped with Rj45 connectors. The ground wires are connected to screw terminals – terminals 1-4/13-16 and to a terminal for DIN rail installation. Two independent ground connections are mandatory for Ex installations.

This is standard and obligatory requirement for any device with Zener barrier. Wires used for connection must have greater cross-section than 0.75 mm2.
The Gigabit version is suitable for gas groups IIB, whereas the 100 Mbps version may be applied in gas groups IIC.

All versions of the device are suitable for Group I – mines.
The Ethernet LAN ports are marked as “HAZ” and “SAFE”. Network connections in hazardous areas must be plugged to the RJ45 connector marked as HAZ.
SAFE marked connector is designed for intrinsically safe equipment. Cat5e cable is recommended for all connections.
LAN connections with hazardous areas should be marked with blue colour on the label to prevent any installation mistakes.
