ATEX CERTIFIED ETHERNET NETWORKS IN THE EX ZONES
INTRINSICALLY SAFE ETHERNET MODULES
Ethernet LAN interfaces are equipped with Rj45 connectors. The ground wires are connected to screw terminals – terminals 1-4/13-16 and to a terminal for DIN rail installation. Two independent ground connections are mandatory for Ex installations.
This is standard and obligatory requirement for any device with Zener barrier. Wires used for connection must have greater cross-section than 0.75 mm2.
The Gigabit version is suitable for gas groups IIB, whereas the 100 Mbps version may be applied in gas groups IIC.
All versions of the device are suitable for Group I – mines.
Ethernet LAN ports are marked as HAZ and SAFE. Network connections in explosive hazardous areas must be connected to the RJ45 connector marked HAZ, while downstream devices located in non-hazardous areas must be connected to the RJ45 connector marked SAFE. It is recommended to use an RJ45 Cat5e cable. LAN connections to explosive hazardous areas are marked with a blue color on the label to prevent confusion
